Your First Aid Box can save Life

Having these Items in your First Aid Box can save Life Few days ago I received a call as early as 3am in the morning from a close friend ...“please Pharm my sister is very sick, she has been vomiting and purging all night”... I tried talking with the lady in question but she was very weak to make a complete sentence because she was weak and was crying through out.

Know if you're at risk of Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) also known as ESRD

Kidney failure, also called end-stage renal disease (ESRD), is the last stage of chronic kidney disease CKD. When the kidneys fail, it means they have stopped working well enough for you to survive without dialysis or a kidney transplant. When Kidney fails, they stop taking water and waste out of your blood.

End-stage renal disease (ESRD) affects more than 1500 people per million population in countries with a high prevalence, such as Japan, Taiwan, US and Nigeria topping the number in Africa. Approximately two-thirds of people with ESRD receive haemodialysis, one quarter have kidney transplants, and one tenth receive peritoneal dialysis.

In Nigeria we have more than 100 thousand cases per year. CKD is more prevalent in the elderly population. However, while younger patients with CKD typically experience progressive loss of kidney function. Recently in Nigeria, there have been increased incidence of death from CKD in younger patients. About 30% of patients over 65 years of age with CKD have stable disease and this calls for concern.
